Received the first "Peer Rewards" debit card giftcard. Thank you very much for the ones who recognized my work. I am expecting another one which is already on the way too. :)
My sysadmin exam seems to be cancelled, once again! It just affects candidates' mood so much as this is quite frequent. I was even informed on morning of the exam which I was not in the candidate list.
There are some people asking about the condition of my cat Seinfield. He was at vet diagnosed "infected paw caused by fighting". Vet made a needle injection on his butt. Seinfield also left a scratch on vet's palm, too. The consultation and 7 days antibiotics costs AUD$53 (~USD$50). I was so worry he will be a tripod cat and now I was a bit relived.
Will get a dial-up 56k prepaid internet card for next 7 days before broadband reconnection. I was very frustrated with the replies from "V Wireless Broadband" about my inquiries of "BYO HSDPA Modem joining plan". I have been to two direct shops and one franchise shop about this.
FYI, the V company has the mobile wireless broadband plan with 24 months contract. $39 per month you got 5GB to use and it will be shaped to 64kbps if you exceeded the quota. As T&C said you could terminate the contract within 6 months with prorata of $192 as cost of modem and $250 fee, or just prorata of $192 after 6 months. Sounds tempting? I don't think so!
I asked the staff in the first direct shop if they have a testing SIM card for plugging into my modem and test if the hardware works, the answer was "Did it work before? If it work before it should be working now. We don't have any testing SIM cards for testing.". Wow! they are so helpful!
Then I asked the staff in the second direct shop if I could BYO my modem and join their plan. The staff replied, "No! You cannot bring along your own modem.". I asked, "What if the modem was from your company? It is a V modem!". You know what she said? "No! You can't do that. We HAVE to provide you a brand new modem!"
The franchise shop was even at extreme. "We cannot tell the customers about the T&C. You have to contact the customer services hotline of that company after you have *joined*.". This one I would give them a "GJ" (Good Job) gesture. XD
What does this imply? This means that you can still quit anytime you like, but you have to pay out a *locked* HSDPA modem $192 which you could not even reconnect to the same company. What a fraud.
This is a very monopolistic country, I would say.
